Audition & Portfolio Review

We request that each applicant showcase their preparedness for rigorous artistic study, whether through their personal journey or current institution. As part of the competition evaluation process, applicants must submit a link to their portfolio review.

VIsual Arts

Applicants to the Visual Arts category are required to submit at least one piece that authentically represents their artistic identity. All works must be original creations by the applicant. Visual arts include, but are not limited to, the 2D requirements listed below, and may encompass painting, Fashion sculpture, ceramics, photography, animation, architecture, printmaking, murals, graphic design, creative technology, and video art.

Music

Audition Requirements
We invite all Music major applicants to submit their audition materials online, following the specific guidelines below. Whenever possible, YouTube links are strongly preferred.

For Classical Instrument Applicants:
Please submit 1-2 prepared pieces that showcase contrasting styles.

​

For Classical Piano Applicants:
Submit 1 prepared piece from the standard classical piano repertoire.

​

For Voice Applicants:

Classical Voice:
Prepare one piece from memory — a solo art song or aria—from the Classical repertoire, demonstrating your vocal range.

​

Contemporary Voice:
Prepare one song in English, or one in English and another in your native language, each from a different style to showcase your versatility. Styles may include Pop, Jazz, Classical, Traditional Folk Music, and others.

​

For Songwriting Applicants:
Submit one original song in English, including the lyrics with your audition.

Film

Applicants must submit a creative video, 3 to 5 minutes in length.

Additionally, you may choose to include a creative writing sample. This can be in any format, such as a screenplay, play, short story, poem, or even stream of consciousness. While the writing sample is optional, it will be considered a valuable bonus.

Dance

For dance applications, applicants are required to submit 1-2 videos showcasing their preferred style of dance. The video should demonstrate the following:

  • Flexibility

  • Turns

  • Floorwork (if applicable)

  • Jumps

  • Musicality

Please ensure your video does not exceed 15 minutes in length and is filmed within 20 feet of the camera.

Recommended Tips:

  • Women: A black leotard and tights in a color that closely matches your natural skin tone, or whatever you feel most comfortable wearing. Both soft and pointe shoes are needed.

  • Men: Black tights and a simple-colored  t-shirt.

Theater 

Theater applicants must submit 1-2 videos showcasing their performance of either:

  • A 90+ second monologue from a published play (a Shakespearean monologue is preferred), or any other published theatrical work (such as a book excerpt or poem).

OR

  • An entire song from a published musical, accompanied by an instrumental or piano track.
